You may have recently been contacted by one of your Medicare Advantage or Part D payers regarding new compliance training initiatives that the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) is requiring. One of these requirements specifies that all Medicare providers and their employees receive training on the prevention, detection, and correction of fraud, waste, and abuse.
As Summa Health Network (SHN) payers, Unison Health Plan and SummaCare require that we provide access to their training materials for you and your employees. These presentations linked below aim to provide this education to you and your employees and assist CMS in the elimination of fraud, waste and abuse.
The training materials provided to SHN by SummaCare and Unison can be accessed on each of their websites as below. CMS also offers a current training course on Fraud and Abuse which can be taken on their website (click on Web Based Training modules) at the link below.

You are required to complete one of these courses by December 31, 2009, and annually hereafter. Additionally, you must maintain records of this training for yourself and each of your staff members, as CMS or any Medicare Advantage or Part D payer may ask for proof of training at any time.
